Who we are

Dr Spokes was founded by Paul Stockdale, an experienced mountain biker and a CYTECH Level 3 Mechanic, MIAS Level 2 Mountain Bike Instructor and a BCF Coach.

Through his 30+ years as an army officer, Paul developed his passion for mountain biking that has led him to establish Dr Spokes. These years of experience included five years organising the army mountain bike championships and leading several mountain bike expeditions throughout the UK, Cyprus, Canada and the USA. Throughout this time he gained plenty of experience as a compentent team and expedition leader. He has completed the English Coast to Coast several times, and although his cross country racing days are over, he still enjoys competing in mountain bike events, including the annual Passport Du Soleil Mountain Bike event in the French Alps.

More recently the business has supported several road riding events including London to Paris, London to Lands End and the Edinburgh Night ride.

Throughout his army career he served in the Royal Logisitic Corps and had the opportunty to serve on operations in such places as Germany, Bosnia, Iraq, Cyprus and Afganistan. In addition to this he has worked in France, Australia, Georgia, Kenya and Poland.
Paul also has a motorsport background riding Enduro and rallying for the Army where he learnt his love of mechanics. This has given him a sound foundation which he has built upon to successfully complete his CYTECH Level 2 & 3 and set up Dr Spokes. Recently, he has qualified in E-bike  servicing and electronic gear set up

When he is not in the workshop Paul can be found out enjoying the trails in Hamsterley Forest or cycling the quiet roads in the Dales.
